I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. As a lifelong self-proclaimed nerd, I loved a lot of subjects I studied in school. Science caught my interest, though, because becoming a scientific researcher is one way to ensure that I will spend the rest of my life learning more and more every day.
I completed my undergraduate studies at UC Davis where I majored in Genetics and Genomics with a minor in Computer Science. My research at Davis concerned RNA:DNA hybrids and the proteins to which they bind. After college I worked at a pharmaceutical company that designs transgenic chickens for use in antibody discovery projects. In the next five years I hope to continue to explore the complexities of human genome regulation, particularly how it intersects with RNA biology.
My only talent is my ability to answer the question, “what movie have I seen that actor in before?” which is related to my hobby of watching as many movies as I can!
