I am originally from Detroit, Michigan and did my undergrad at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor where I earned a B.S in MCDB and a minor in Gender & Health. At UMich, I worked for 3 years in Ajit Joglekar’s kinetochore lab where I found a love of microscopy and cell biology. There, I assessed protein dynamics at the kinetochore and perturbed correct chromosomal segregation during cell division. Coming to Harvard, I did a diverse set of rotations and ended up in Ryan Nett’s plant biochemistry lab. Here, I’ve found an interest in exploring enzyme relationships across life and understanding their biochemistry. Previous discoveries in plant enzyme function are informing my work in animal neural systems, where I am working to elucidate non-canonical functions from previously-thought-to-be acatalytic enzymes. Outside of the lab, I take care of an extensive garden of houseplants (of course I’d end up in a plant lab) and a calico cat named Momo. I also like to play videogames, collect tattoos, and write and record music.
