I have always been fascinated by the evolution of sensory systems and have been fortunate to dedicate my career to studying the cellular and molecular underpinnings of several sensory modalities across a wide range of organisms. My dream is to apply my skills in sensory and molecular biology to address critical knowledge gaps in environmental biology, as I see this as a way to mitigate the ongoing climate crisis that will continue to impact both human and ecosystem health.
As a postdoc, I am studying the sensory mechanisms that fungi use to navigate their environment, with a focus on mycorrhizal fungi. These fungi are fundamental to ecosystem function, forming symbiotic relationships with most land plants and playing a pivotal role in carbon cycling.
When I am not in the lab, you will find me either dancing, taking pictures, or laughing with my loved ones. You can check out my science blog on instagram @mindful_photon
