Thank You to Everyone Who Supported MCB’s Annual Gift Drive

Thank You to Everyone Who Supported MCB’s Annual Gift Drive

For many years, MCB has held fundraisers and gift drives to support a local charity or to show support for someone in MCB.

This is the first time that Audrie Cortes, MCB’s Administrative Coordinator, organized the annual drive and below is a note that she would like to share with the community.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the generosity shown by you, the people in MCB.

To me, your generous support reflects the department’s strength as a community to come together for a common cause.  Thank you!

With the help of a couple of people, we schlepped six contractor bags filled with blankets, coats, socks, sweaters, pants, cloves and scarves, plus one big bag filled with toys and children’s clothing to the shelter, and Eytan Goldstein, a Harvard undergraduate and three-year volunteer for the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter (HSHS), received the items with open arms.

Eytan sent me a thank you note and I would like to share this quote:
“Every night, different people experiencing homelessness stop by the HSHS, hoping that we might have something, anything that can keep them warm overnight, and we often worry that we might run out of essential supplies. Therefore, these donations are critical in ensuring that our shelter can provide the necessary emergency aid for those experiencing homelessness in the Cambridge area. Thank you MCB for your incredibly kind donations for our guests to whom we might not be able to offer a bed for the night and who will subsequently need to sleep outside.”

Again, thank you for your generosity and I look forward to organizing next year’s gift drive. If you feel strongly about a cause that MCB could support, please let me know and I will add it to the list.

Warm regards,
Audrie
