Quanta Magazine Features Cassandra Extavour

OEB and MCB faculty Cassandra Extavour and her research into the origins of multicellular life are featured in a recent story in Quanta Magazine.  Interviewed by Claudia Dreifus, the story highlights her journey successfully navigating her many accomplishments, both within her evolutionary genetics lab at Harvard and outside. She is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator and also a classically trained soprano who performs with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and the Handel and Haydn Society.

The story reveals the seeds of Extavour’s interest in biochemistry and the genetics of the earliest life on earth with the goal of understanding how the first cells developed and eventually evolved into multicellular organisms.
