On (Friday) October 25, the Elya Lab will host an Open House, followed by Friday Talks @4 and Halloween TGIF. Initiated by the community task force on Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, lab open houses are aimed at both scientists and non-scientists. The event will give MCB community members the opportunity to learn more about the Elya lab’s research on fungus that turns flies into “zombies.” No registration for the tours is needed, as the tours will be run on a first-come, first-serve basis. The hands-on tours will feature three stations called “Zombie Harvest,” “Fungus Among Us,” and “Bodysnatchers.” Open House tours start at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM in BioLabs room 2015
Afterwards, the Elya Lab is also hosting the Friday Talks@4 and TGIF at 5:00 PM. Postdoc Leslie Torres Ulloa and OEB graduate student Julius Tabin, who are both in the Elya Lab, will be presenting their talks.
In addition to pizza and drinks, TGIF will feature a costume contest with prizes for both adults and kids and a pumpkin carving contest. MCB Administration and event planner Francisco Arellano are coordinating the contests. MCB community members, their partners, and their kids are all invited to attend. Join us in the BioLabs courtyard at 5:00 PM on October 25 for Halloween TGIF!
