SHARAD RAMANATHAN RECEIVES AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN MENTORING

The Graduate Student Council has honored Sharad Ramanathan with its Everett Mendelsohn Excellence in Mentoring Award. The award seeks to recognize the often-overlooked efforts of faculty mentors as well as to designate exemplary models for all Harvard faculty. The GSC elects Mendelsohn Award recipients on the basis of statements of nomination composed and submitted by GSAS students, in this case members of Ramanathan’s own lab.

Ramanathan is both humbled and overjoyed:  “My excitement upon knowing that I was receiving the Mendelsohn award was so obvious even at home that my seven-year-old daughter asked me to jump up and down at the award ceremony yelling loudly, ‘I won! ! won!!’ Until the award was announced, “I was certain that the students in my lab were the ones who were mentoring me…I am glad that at least in public they pretend it’s the reverse.”
