MCB Hosts Dudley Herschbach Teacher/Scientist Lecture 2024

All are invited to attend the Dudley Herschbach Lecture on Thursday, April 18th at noon in the Northwest Building B103. The Herschbach teacher/scientist lecture series recognizes scholars who excel both as scientists and as educators.  

The lecture series honors emeritus professor Dudley Herschbach, a Nobel-prize winning chemist and a devoted educator. Herschbach received his PhD. in Chemical Physics (1958) from Harvard and joined the faculty at Harvard as Professor of Chemistry in 1963.  He has received numerous national and international awards for his research, including the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1986 for his work on crossed beam molecular experiments.  

This year’s Dudley Herschbach Lecture speaker will be Tracy Johnson, the Keith and Cecilia Terasaki Presidential Endowed Chair, Professor of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, an HHMI Investigator, and Dean, Life Sciences, UCLA College. Dr. Johnson will speak on The Secret Life of Introns and Other Tales of Coordinate Gene Expression

Note that this lecture will be presented during the regularly scheduled Thursday at Noon Seminar Series.

Dr. Johnson will also present a lecture on April 17, hosted by the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. That lecture is open to the entire Harvard community.
