I am motivated to understand the molecular mechanisms that give rise to novel protein functions, embedded within the complex networks of reactions, interactions, and evolutionary pressures across all living organisms.
I am currently conducting research in the laboratory of Dr. Ryan Nett, motivated to achieve a structural and mechanistic understanding of neofunctionalized enzymes in plant secondary metabolism.
Prior to joining MCB as a post-doc, I did my Ph.D. at the Johns Hopkins University under Dr. Juliette Lecomte studying sequence-structure-function relationships controlling heme coordination and folding stability in microbial hemoglobins.
