The O'Shea Lab is interested in deciphering the logic of signaling and transcriptional control, and in understanding the function and mechanism of oscillation of a three-protein circadian clock. Many of our studies make use of three model systems: (1) the Pho pathway, which allows cells to sense and respond to changes in environmental levels of inorganic phosphates; (2) the Hog pathway, involved in responding to osmotic stress; and (3) a circadian clock from a cyanobacterium.
