I am interested in how 3’UTR elements regulate mRNA translation. The pal-1 3’UTR contains an autonomous germline repression element (GRE) associated with post-initiation repression of protein accumulation (after ribosome loading). I have constructed a reporter regulated by the GRE that faithfully recapitulates PAL-1 expression in the germline and I am using genetics, RNAi, and biochemical fraction to investigate the mechanisms of this regulation.
